How Gemstone Recommendations Work

In Vedic astrology, each of the nine planets (Navagrahas) rules a specific gemstone. Wearing a gemstone is believed to strengthen the energy of that planet in your life. However, not all gemstones are suitable for everyone — it depends on your individual birth chart.

Lagna-Based Recommendations

The most reliable method is based on your Lagna (Ascendant). Your Lagna lord's gemstone is almost always safe and beneficial. Planets ruling your trine houses (H1, H5, H9) are natural benefics for your chart and their gemstones are generally recommended.

Which Gemstones to Avoid

Planets ruling your dusthana houses (H6, H8, H12) can cause harm if strengthened. Their gemstones should generally be avoided unless prescribed by an experienced astrologer after detailed chart analysis.

Blue Sapphire — Special Note

Neelam (Blue Sapphire) is the most powerful and potentially dangerous gemstone in Vedic astrology. It is ruled by Saturn and can bring dramatic results — both good and bad. Always test it for 3 days under a pillow or in your pocket before wearing it permanently, regardless of what your chart says.
